PGD / PGS – Pre genetic diagnosis / Pre genetic counselling
If the couple is a carrier of some genetic disease or has the previous offspring with some genetic disorder then PGD – PGS technology is offered to the patient.
Here, IVF is done and embryos are subjected to biopsy to see for that specific genetic disease and only healthy embryos are transferred back to the uterus of the patient. Hence, the possibility of disease in offspring is negated.
